Metro Police and Traffic Learnership 2025 | Apply with Matric. The City of Cape Town invites suitably qualified, unemployed youth aged 18 – 34 who meet the relevant minimum requirements to apply for a learnership in Road Traffic Law Enforcement. The training will be provided by the Public Safety Training College

Requirements

1. Grade 12 qualification (of which documentary proof must be furnished)
2. Be a permanent resident within the jurisdiction of Cape Town (of which documentary proof must be furnished)
3. Be proficient in English and at least one other official language
4. Currently unemployed (STUDENTS & EPWP STAFF ELIGIBLE TO APPLY)
5. Be at least 18 years old and under 35 years old
6. Must be medically and physically fit to undergo strenuous physical training.
7. Applicants should be fully aware of their health status and capabilities when arriving for the fitness assessments, as excellent physical fitness and mental resilience are a requirement for the post.
8. Must be able to work in a team and cope with stressful situations
9. No Criminal Record
10. Must have a valid driving license, minimum code B (manual transmission)
11. Trainees must complete the Further Education and Training Certificate: Road Traffic Law Enforcement, as well as the Law Enforcement Skills Program SP4/2012
12. No tattoos that will be visible when wearing any uniform of the service.

NOTE: All shortlisted candidates will be required to undertake and
pass the following compulsory fitness tests.

1. 2.4 km run (Males 11 minutes and Females 13 minutes)
2. 1-minute push-up test (both males and females: 30 in 60 seconds)
3. 1 minute Sit-up test (both males and females: 30 in 60 seconds)
4. Dead load carries over 100m (both males and females: 2 x 25kg weight; one in each hand)
5. Tyre Drag over 20m distance (both males and females)
6. 20m Shuttle Runs (both males and females: 10 shuttle runs in 60 seconds)
7. 2,1 meter wall clearing (both males and females)
8. Motorcycle Reach Test (both males and females)
9. Comfort Swim (both males and females: any stroke; unassisted)
