Ekurhuleni West TVET College has announced an exciting opportunity for aspiring hospitality professionals through its Hospitality Trainees Programme. The initiative, which offers two trainee positions at the Kempton Campus, is designed to provide practical exposure and professional growth for candidates who have completed their N6 Hospitality qualification.
Programme Details
The Hospitality Trainees Programme will run for 18 months and comes with a monthly stipend of R4,326.00. Successful candidates are expected to start as soon as possible, with the closing date for applications set for 01 October 2025.
This structured programme aims to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and hands-on industry experience, equipping participants with valuable skills in hospitality operations.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must hold an N6 Hospitality Certificate to be considered for this programme. The college emphasizes the importance of relevant qualifications to ensure that trainees can fully benefit from the practical training offered.
Key Responsibilities
Selected trainees will be actively involved in the daily operations of the hospitality department. Duties will include:
- Compiling and placing orders.
- Stock-taking of food and equipment.
- Stock control and issuing ingredients.
- Nutrition and menu planning.
- Assisting lecturers with classroom demonstrations.
- Cooking meals for the college crèche.
- Liaising with suppliers and generating quotations.
- Assisting with planning and managing functions.
- Ensuring kitchen health and safety (OHS) administration is up to date.
- Supervising students during functions and restaurant days.
Through these responsibilities, trainees will gain exposure to both the academic and practical aspects of hospitality management.
