Job Purpose

The Department of Social Development, Western Cape Government has an opportunity for a dynamic individual to render a registry services.

Minimum Requirements

  1. Grade 12 (Senior Certificate or equivalent qualification).
  2. Recommendation
  3. A valid code B (or higher) driving license.

Note: People with disabilities that restrict driving abilities but have reasonable access to transport may also apply.

Key Performance Areas

  1. Provide registry counter services: Attend to clients; Handle telephonic and other enquiries received; Receive and register hand delivered mail/files;
  2. Handle incoming and outgoing correspondence: Receive all mail;
  3. Sort, register and dispatch mail;
  4. Distribute notices on registry issues; Render an effective filing and record management service;
  5. Opening and close files according to record classification system;
  6. Filing/storage, tracing (electronically/manually) and retrieval of documents and files;
  7. Complete index cards for all files;
  8. Operate office machines in relation to the registry function
  9. Open and maintain franking machine register;
  10. Process documents for archiving and/ disposal: Electronic scanning of files
  11. ; Sort and package files for archives and distribution.

Competencies

  1. A good understanding of the following: Registry duties, practices as well as the ability to capture data, and operate computer;
  2. Legislative framework governing the Public Service;
  3. Storage and retrieval procedures in terms of the working environment;
  4. Work in registry

Skills needed

  1. Proven computer literacy;
  2. Written and verbal communication;
  3. Planing and organising;
  4. Problem-solving.

Remuneration

R 216 417 per annum (Salary Level 5)

Note on remuneration: Service benefits or obligations for qualifying employees (medical assistance, housing assistance, pension-fund contributions, etc) are funded or co-funded in terms of the applicable prescripts or collective agreements.
