2500 Unemployed Youths Needed at Gauteng Department of Infrastructure Development- Apply Now
The Gauteng Department of Infrastructure Development is excited to announce that we are recruiting for the National Youth Service Programme (NYS) for the financial years 2025 to 2027.
The Department is looking for 2,500 unemployed youth participants from across Gauteng Province.Recruitment Details:Gender Distribution: 60% females and 40% males.Inclusivity: 2% positions reserved for persons with disabilities and 100% historically disadvantaged individuals.
Requirements
- Age: Participants must be between 18 and 33 years (under 35 for the duration of the two-year contract)
- .Education: Must have passed Grade 11 or above.
- Identity Verification: Valid South African Identity Document.
- Availability: Must be available for the duration of the programme and willing to sign a contract.
- Residence: Applicants must reside in one of Gauteng’s five corridors (City of Johannesburg, City of Tshwane, City of Ekurhuleni, Sedibeng, and Westrand Districts).
- Criminal Record: Must have no criminal record; a vetting process will be conducted.
- Business Standing: Cannot be a Director or partner in any registered company.
- Proximity: Should reside near the project sites.
Available Work Experience Opportunities
- Technical Trade Qualifications (Ref: 2025/01):Electrical, solar installation and maintenance, plumbing, carpentry, boiler assistant, fitting and turning, mechanical, building, air conditioning and refrigeration, welding, handyman, and painting.
- Administration Qualifications (Ref: 2025/02):Data capturing, finance, human resource management, procurement, asset management, pharmacy assistants, IT, occupational health and safety, development studies, social work, psychology, auditing, legal secretarial, administration, reception, secretarial work, communications, photography, videography, graphic design, animation, events management, and media relations.
- General Workers (Ref: 2025/03):Cleaning, gardening, landscaping, queue marshals, porters, laundry, and food service aid.

Stipend
Successful candidates will receive a monthly stipend of R3,500 for a fixed period of 24 months.
